Why Stop There?
Updated: Feb 8
We all want to be treated equally. We all want to have the same opportunities as the person next to us. And when it comes to housing, we all want to be able to choose a home where we feel comfortable and safe.
This is why The Fair Housing Act is so important!!!
The Fair Housing Act was signed into law in 1968 as part of the Civil Rights Act. Fair Housing provides the opportunity for all to rent, buy a home, and receive financing for a home without being discriminated.
The act sets out 7 classes that are protected under this act:
As a real estate agent, we are thoroughly taught how important this act is and how to market homes in line with fair housing.
To me it is pretty simple: TREAT EVERYONE AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED.
Some might believe that the 7 protected classes in this act doesn't include everyone out there. There might be some people who fall between the cracks of the classes listed in our law.
BUT why should we stop at the 7 that are listed. We should not discriminate against anybody.
At Living Doors we give everybody the same opportunity to rent one of our beautiful homes that we provide. Yes, we do have some requirements to be able to become a resident, but those requirements will never discriminate against you for any of the classes listed above or others.
Everyone is welcome at Living Doors and were are always going to make sure that our doors are open for all!
